DHS Recruitment Event a Success

Release Date: August 31, 2023

Over 2,400 attendees attended large-scale recruitment event in Arlington, Texas

Last week, the Department of Homeland Security hosted a two-day, large scale recruitment event at the Esports Stadium & Expo Center in Arlington, Texas with resounding success. More than 2,400 individuals attended the event, with more than 400 of them receiving on-site interviews for positions varying from law enforcement specialists to immigration officers to program managers.

During the event, DHS held various career workshops, panels (i.e., Women in Law Enforcement Leadership Panel), and exhibits and demonstrations that showcased the critical missions across the Department. Attendees had the unique opportunity to speak to recruiters and hiring managers from 11 Agencies and Offices in one location, and to possibly be interviewed, receive a tentative job offer, or enter into the security process.

In the lead up to the event, DHS hosted two “DHS is Hiring” webinars, the DHS is Hiring Law Enforcement and Mission Support webinar which had over 425 attendees, and the A Day in Life of DHS Women in Law Enforcement Panel, which had over 325 attendees for those who couldn’t attend in-person.  DHS also hosted a DHS-only event, Women in Law Enforcement Summit, where Acting Deputy Secretary Canegallo provided remarks to more than 150 law enforcement personnel.

“I am so grateful for the opportunity to help build toward this future alongside each of you and am eager to hear your ideas – both today and going forward – about what we need to do differently to get there,” said Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Kristie Canegallo at the Summit. “Together, we can build a better future by highlighting the value of public service; the inherent integrity of law enforcement professionals; the sacrifice our law enforcement officers make so that our communities and our nation can be safe; and the viability and reward of law enforcement as a career.”

The Department is committed to building and retaining a diverse workforce that includes individuals who bring enthusiasm, innovation, and unique perspectives to the workplace. DHS will continue to host recruitment and hiring events based on workforce needs. The Summit is one such effort to encourage retention and provides attendees a unique platform to network and strengthen relationships across the Components and to discuss important topics such as retention, career development, and total wellbeing.
