Vote for S&T’s Five Panels in the PanelPicker Aug 8-20! 

We need your vote to help send S&T to SXSW 2024!  To cast your vote, head to the SXSW PanelPicker, where you’ll be prompted to make a PanelPicker account. Once you make an account, you’ll be able to vote every day from Aug. 8 - 20 for S&T's five panel proposals:

  • Session 1: Inclusive Innovation: Bringing Diversity to the Security R&D Base
  • Session 2: Convergence on using Intelligent AI to Protect the Homeland
  • Session 3: Cultivating AI for the Public
  • Session 4: How to Work with S&T
  • Session 5: Arctic Resilience: Can we Save our Melting Infrastructure

  • Session 1: Inclusive Innovation: Bringing Diversity to the Security R&D Base
    Jumpstarting the next generation of minority innovators and ensuring diverse representation in science and technology industries will be key to the nation’s enduring ability to strengthen America’s security and build more resilient communities. This panel will discuss federal pathways for minority innovators to offer untapped concepts, technologies, and products.

  • Session 4: How to Work with S&T
    S&T’s Industry Partnerships’ Industry Liaison, Dee Parker, will discuss how industry can work with S&T through our innovation funding programs and current opportunities to adapt, develop, and commercialize your technologies in support of DHS missions. S&T relies on private sector partners to help us discover scientific advancements. From entrepreneurs to academia, from small businesses to large corporations, S&T has unique tools for private sector entities to help us find new and emerging technology that can be used for homeland security.

    • Dee Parker, Industry Liaison, S&T Office of Industry Partnerships
       
  • Session 5: Arctic Resilience: Can We Save our Melting Infrastructure
    The Arctic is warming at four times the global rate, out-pacing predictions and foreshadowing future challenges for the world. Join us in understanding how public-private organizations are working together with local and tribal communities to mitigate future threats and protect the economic, health and security needs of the region.
    Speakers:

    • Ben Cook, Senior Manager, Climate Science and Analysis Group, Sandia National Labs
    • Julie Kitka, President, Alaska Federation of Natives (AFN)
    • (Moderator) Major General Randy “Church” Kee, Senior Advisor, Arctic Security Affairs, Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies, U.S. Arctic Research Commission
