Draft Environmental Assessment for Proposed Land Purchase, and Construction, Operation, and Maintenance of a Joint Processing Center in Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas

The DHS Office of the Chief Readiness Support Officer is seeking comments from Federal, State, local agencies, Tribes, and individuals who may be interested in or affected by a proposed project to purchase 62.76 acres of land in Eagle Pass, Texas, and to construct, operate, and maintain a Joint Processing Center (JPC) to support humanitarian efforts along the southwestern United States/Mexico international border. The input provided will inform the environmental planning process concerning the proposed project. A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared that analyses the potential environmental impacts of the project pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). We look forward to and welcome your participation in this analysis. Questions, comments, concerns, information, studies, or other data may be submitted by July 18, 2023. Substantive comments will be addressed accordingly in the final EA. If you have comments or information relevant to the development of the EA, please direct your correspondence to BPAMNEPA@cbp.dhs.gov or mail to:
