Chemical Sector Regulatory Authorities

The majority of Chemical Sector assets are privately owned and operated. However, the highest-risk assets are regulated for security through several different regulatory programs.

Infrastructure Security Compliance Division

The Infrastructure Security Compliance Division (ISCD) is a division within the Office of Infrastructure Protection (IP) of the National Protection and Programs Directorate (NPPD). The Infrastructure Security Compliance Division is responsible for implementing the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS), the nation’s program to regulate security at high-risk chemical facilities, and a proposed Ammonium Nitrate Security Program.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) held public listening sessions across the country as well as two webinars for the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM).

LOS ANGELES— Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas today concluded a trip to Fresno and Los Angeles, Calif. where he conducted site visits to review airport operations and meet with DHS personnel, local officials, and local law enforcement.
