The Department's Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate invests in scientific research leading to the development of new and innovative technologies. Technologies are developed and transitioned by the Directorate to enhance the mission capabilities of its customers.

Customers include Department components and federal, state, county, city, tribal, and territorial first responders. The information below explains different ways to do business with the S&T Directorate and Department. We are delighted to speak with you if you believe you can bring us a technology that meets a customer requirement.

Doing Business with the Department

Department of Homeland Security contracting resources are available to those interested in doing business with the Department. If you have not done business with the federal government before, you MUST register in Central Contractor Registration. Central Contractor Registration will also walk you through the process of obtaining a Dun & Bradstreet (D& B) Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number.

Selling Products or Services to the Department

The S&T Directorate invests in research leading to the development of new technologies, not current acquisitions for Department components. If you already have technology products or services that are on the market and ready to go now, we encourage you to identify and bid on current acquisition opportunities. For all current government opportunities, visit Federal Business Opportunities.

Submitting Science and Technology Ideas

If you have a great idea, we recommend you first visit the Long-Range Broad Agency Announcements site. If you are a Small Business and want to do business with the Department, please visit Small Business Innovatation Research for more information about available opportunities.

If you believe you have exactly the right technology for S&T, the Office of Public-Private Partnerships offers valuable opportunities for the private sector with its FutureTECH and SECURE programs.

If you are interested in establishing a licensing agreement with the Department to commercialize intellectual property, the Technology Transfer Program may have opportunities for you.

If you are a First Responder with a great idea for your colleagues, TechSolutions operates just for you, and it is funded to develop prototypes quickly and economically.
