Secretary Napolitano Launches Public Engagement Website

Washington, D.C. - Secretary Napolitano today announced the launch of a new online public engagement tool designed to solicit input from the public on ways to enhance transparency, participation, collaboration and innovation at the Department—part of President Obama's Open Government Directive.

FEMA Releases Draft National Disaster Recovery Framework

Washington, D.C. - Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), in coordination with the interagency Long Term Disaster Recovery Working Group, issued a draft of the National Disaster Recovery Framework -focused on engaging state, local and tribal governments, nonprofit partners, the private sector, and the public to enhance the nation's ability to recovery from disasters. The comment period will run through Feb. 26, 2010. The Recovery Framework document is available at www.regulations.gov in Docket FEMA-2010-0004. Individuals and other stakeholders who wish to submit comments can do so at www.regulations.gov using the Docket identification number as a search term.

Washington, D.C. - In November 2009, DHS launched a redesigned www.dhs.gov/veterans page to make it easier for veterans to get information about opportunities with the Department. Veterans make up one quarter of the DHS workforce, so we're committed to making sure they have all the information they need to interact with and conduct business with the Department. The website now provides veterans and veteran service organizations a one-stop shop for information about employment, contracting, and volunteer opportunities in the Department.
