The DHS Open Government Initiative
In recent days, the Department of Homeland Security has taken a major step toward its priority to create a more open, transparent, efficient, and effective government. As part of President Obama's Open Government Directive, we have now launched the DHS Open Government Initiative.
The Administration has set four goals for its Open Government effort, calling them the "cornerstone of an open government." The goals DHS will seek are:
The online participation tool will be available until March 19, 2010. You can contribute your own ideas and rate idea others have submitted.

The Administration has set four goals for its Open Government effort, calling them the "cornerstone of an open government." The goals DHS will seek are:
- improving transparency by providing more information and data about the Department's activities in a timely and accessible manner;
- increasing participation by utilizing new tools and strategies to encourage input and feedback from the public;
- expanding collaboration with our many partners, both inside and outside government; and
- encouraging innovation to find new ways to make the government more open and efficient and save taxpayers money.

As many people who hate what your department now stands for, how crooked your department is and how obvious it is that your department wants control over every human being- this "thread" will not be up to long. Or is it just another way for you to gain our computers ip address and keep tabs on our lives?

I was wondering what your department was doing to uphold the Constitution of the USA and protect our Country against communism, treason, etc.? Are you still there for the people of America? Do you have investigators to seek out questions that the people need? Or are you under control of a higher Power? Curious because I always had faith in YOU.

An idea to an Open Government plan is to have Barry Soetoro prove Naural Born Citizenship, that's an easy one.

I think that any initiative should be considered with an open mind, specially if it gives a possibility to get heard.

Cheers on more openness and accountability !
One thing I find refreshing is the embracing of technology, I don't think we have seen this in a previous Administration...
Such openness and accountability, is important as it gives us a platform to be heard, even if ignored!! :)

Does this openness cover the recent secret meeting of the DHS and the Muslim Brotherhood ??
Does the DHS actually believe THEY created this new "counter-radicalization" program ?? Nonsense
The “counter-radicalization” program is something that the other side created for us. … It initially started in Britain. The Muslim Brotherhood groups suggested it. We went over there and got it. We thought it was a great idea and now we’re using it. It’s the enemy giving us a way to destroy ourselves.
The Muslim Brotherhood is the ideological foundation for today’s terrorist organizations in the Islamic world. Founded in 1928, it is the oldest Islamic fundamentalist political group in modern times. Originally called the Society of the Muslim Brothers, today it is a hardcore supporter of Hamas and Hezbollah and considered the inspirational “father” of al-Qaeda itself.
In 1981, the Muslim Brotherhood assassinated Egyptian President Anwar Sadat after he signed a peace treaty with Israel. Just this month, Egyptian authorities arrested 13 members of the Muslim Brotherhood.
So much for the Muslim Brotherhood.

I am truly delighted to read: "increasing participation by utilizing new tools and strategies to encourage input and feedback from the public."
It would surely lead to a more peaceful and harmonious world if governments of all countries had the courage to launch similar initiatives.
If this really happens it will be a major leap forward in the concept of open government. I will watch the progress of this initiative with great interest.

I find this statement on the funny side
increasing participation by utilizing new tools and strategies to encourage input and feedback from the public;
Feedback so long as it's within the boundaries of your reasoning.

One of the best things I like in obama is his mind and new ideas. Any way i think sharing information with public as possible will increase transparency.

I applaud the Obama Administration's Open Government Initiative and the December 8th Directive requiring all federal agencies to promulgate Open Government Plans.

I think the administrative side needs a little work, obama is doing a decent job but it seems like its not enough and he cant do it by himself. The corporate worls are so far out of this world, speaking in hypothetical terms, they need to work together as a team, or GOVERNMENT!
