Two Weeks Down. What's Next?
We've seen a lot of supportive comments roll in, and, naturally, we've seen some criticism as well. It's true, official blogging isn't easy. Look at this as an evolving discussion, a work in progress.
Secretary Napolitano just posted some thoughts on the Leadership Journal about her upcoming trip to Europe and Kuwait. We encourage you to check it out, and keep checking the blog while she's traveling. We'll be dedicating most of our posts next week to tracking her trip. We'll have some guests talking about how her trip, stop by stop, is connected to our efforts here at home.
Thanks for your interest. We're doing this because the President issued a call for transparency when he assumed the office, and Secretary Napolitano wants to answer it. And keep leaving comments – we're listening.

Again, I am curious as to whether the FRL/SOS was a topic recently, as Secretary Napolitano sat down with bloggers and reporters in the 'pen and pad' session; since we were not privy to the questions. You may be listening, but these posts are not typed in braille. How much longer is it going to take before this Department opens their eyes to see the LIGHT?
I am thankful for this site however because at least there is some evidence as to receipt of knowledge in the form of a published post, unlike the private mailings to pertinent principals. Open and accessible? Hardly. Transparency? Try invisibility. The plan that I have put forth is consistent with the National Response Framework, and applicable to a high percentage of any and all hazards, no-notice and forewarned events. The FRL/SOS is a product of such extraordinary value that acquisition and nationwide implementation should be deemed imperative.
I would love to post what the FRL/SOS is exactly, but intellectual property piracy clauses within your Terms of Use prevent that occurrence. You know what it is and you know who I am. Is saving lives and creating jobs a priority for this Administration or not? Is attaining increased situational awareness for incident management a priority for this Department or not? Please decide who is supposed to make the decision on this matter, which truly isn't even debatable. You could, at the very least, let me know that you are indeed paying attention.
