One Stop Shop

Today, Secretary Napolitano, USCIS Director Alejandro Mayorkas, and White House Chief Performance Officer Jeff Zients will be unveiling a new and improved USCIS website at USCIS’ headquarters.

Ninety days ago, President Obama called for new USCIS technology to improve transparency and efficiency in the immigration system. USCIS met the President’s directive by developing a re-designed and enhanced website, available in English and Spanish, to help customers navigate the immigration system more effectively. Essentially, the new USCIS website will be a “one-stop shop” for immigration information.

The new “My Case Status” function above allows customers to sign in with a receipt number, and check the status of their application. They will also be able to sign up for email and text alerts for the first time, to let them know what step of the process their application is in.

For example, the new USCIS.gov website includes a “Where to Start” tool that helps customers easily navigate the new site, a “My Case Status” tool that allows customers to check the status of their application via email and text message alerts, and a “National Dashboard” that provides national data on volumes and trends in the immigration system. We are also proud to introduce a Spanish language version of our website, which is available at: www.uscis.gov/espanol.

Take a minute to check out the new site today and spread the word!

If the website that I am seeing right now is the final product that it’s sad that the Goal of “transparency“ has not been achieved in terms of the new website.

The case status does not provide ANY additional information. "Pending" status was shown as simple text in the older version, now its shows a “Initial Review” circle. When I heard "transparency", I thought that being an EB-2 India Green Card applicant, I would see if my application was pre-adjudicated, if my name-check was cleared and I would see my place and position in the waiting line. I was hoping that I would get a good estimate on how many more years it’s going to take me to get my freedom to grow faster in my professional career (@ Green Card). What I got in return is "Seven Fancy Circles", pleasant looking fonts and a nice background.

Please consider adding these features in the website to improve the transparency.
    1) Kindly provide the total pending I-485 applications per Country, per Category (EB1, EB2, and EB3).
    2) Kindly provide the detailed status like Pre-Adjudication complete, name check complete etc.
    3) Kindly improve the accuracy of information. Several of my friends received approvals on their petition and the website still shows the second Circle "Initial Review" highlighted.

    Thanks,
    Rajesh
Legal, Law abiding, taxpaying EB2 Applicant

There is not much information with the updated website. It is showing the old wine in a new bottle. No case status or projection for those waiting for more than 6 years for the green card. USCIS receives RFE but there is no update on status. It says RFE Received and there would be an update in 60 days. but i dont see any update in 60 days.

I think funds should be focused on the dangerous Mexican border not the Canadian border. We need many more border patrol on the southern border to keep our nation safe.

Anymore ideas on how to destroy the U.S.A.?
Taking away Border Patrol Personnel from our border while all that violence is going on just on the other side in Mexico, seems a deliberate move to bring trouble over our border to law abiding American citizens!
What's going on with the DHS?

There should be some kind of solution to relieve the long-long waiting for EB-based applicants. Otherwise, more and more people would feel uneasy and lose hope to the USCIS/DOS agencies.

    Dear officers:

I personally it is unfair for people from china and india. You have to keep same or similar job for 5-10 years to survive your green card approval, and this does not apply to people from rest of the world because they can get their card very soon and do whatevere they want.

This world will never be fair, never and ever.......

I strongly encourage uscis officer work harder to spillover the extra visa quartely, not at the end of the year. It is also unfair for these spillover to go to india only, chinese deserve it.

Give china 7% limit and meanwhile spillovere limit, this is not good.

Please read Accept Chinese Talenet Act now bill, innocent us have to sacrifice for the people ahead of us because the demacray bonus from U.S goverment.

Thank you for reading and consideration of my message.

My husband submitted his EB3 through his company at 2003. All these years, the company he is working had multiple layoffs. Thank God he is still keeping his job. I guess only people who went through this know we felt at each time. Because of Visa issue, my husband has not seen his parents for more than ten years. We can not seek for a further career development because of this. My husband got a Master degree in US. He worked sincerely, paying taxes, always obey the law...... every year, we were hoping, we would get green cards at that year so we can go back to China to visit, and we were disappointed every time. The long long long long long waiting is like a nightmare. It is exhausting us.

    only if uscis cares.....

I wish the 485 pending time for employment based EB2 was shorter. As many years of back log really hurt these professional worker and scientists. It is also not good for American.

I am from China. Came legaly in 2002, working hard and paying tax for 7 years. I applied for the green card based on EB3. Waiting for 7 years for green card is too long. I heard the quota for Chinese was used by other countries or wasted. This really hurt our hearts. The government treat the illegal immigrants better than us.

The government should improve the situation of those legal people before they give the illegal immigrants legal status and benefits.

I submitted I-485 application based on employment EB3 in June, 2007. The background check is still pending upto now. How much longer it will take? Another two years? This is rediculous. Why the 180 day FBI check rule can not be executed? My priority date is Oct. 2002. If you do not approve my I 485 this year, I may have to get my green card before my retirement.

I think those who lived and worked legally for ten years continuously and over ten years discontinuously in the USA should be given green card because they have already made contributions of all kinds to the United States by living in this country so long.

For those who lost their jobs while the country is in tough economic situation should be given the green card even if they do not have a job when their PD is current. If these people 1)have kept legal status, 2) did not add economic burden to the country and these people are actively seeking jobs, they should be given green card. Who do not want to have a full-time jobs to pay all the bills? It is not the fault of these people to loose their jobs; it is the fault of the country of USA. It is very unfortunate of these poeple loosing jobs because it is so hard for them to find a full-time job when the whole country is in conomic trouble. So when their PD is current, these people should be given green card.

For those people who were university professors and professions before they came to USA and who attended two or three universities in USA graduating with MA and Ph.D degrees should be given green card. These people will be very useful to make USA strong and powerful.

Secretary Napolitano - There is no good sense in decreasing the number of border patrol agents along the Mexican border. Do you not remember the sacrifice of Border Patrol Agent Robert Rosas who was killed in action on your watch, July 22, 2009, at the deadly U.S.-Mexico border. I intend to contact my congress member, calling for a full investigation into your dangerous decrease of border agents on the U.S.-Mexico border. We need to INCREASE the presence of border patrol agents - decreasing agents is placing other agents in harm's way - and the drug smugglers don't care who they kill. Don't make this mistake!
