I would like to point out a incident which took place 2 weekends ago (10/04/09), this way On my return to the US from Visiting London UK. I Was subject and also wittness the disgraful behaviour of Customs Officer at Atlanta ATL Airport GA. For years now I have been visiting the USA on short holidays and now as a resident. Even though I'm English and from the UK I love America and most of what it stands for even down to the way the American people have a lovely way of expressing themselves. Sadly though I have noticed a gradual change in the behaviour and also the manner in which most if not all tourist are sometimes treated upon entering this country. This in particular is in the way or conduct by Customs officers. Some have become so off putting to visitors and aggressive it is a known fact to visitors to this country, it's even something that is pointed out by most of the international Air crews as they give out the boarding passes to you on the plane. Wherever you go in Europe the subject of how aggressive and how unwelcoming America's Customs officers bad conduct has become a topic throughout it's friendly neighbours in Europe and the rest of the world. Coming from a Country that has had to experience terror attacks for well over 28 years completely understand and sympathise most Americans fears of what may happen if a laps in security takes place. But for the life of me It is never acceptable for any group of people who are supposed to represent their country as the first point of welcome, to behave so poorly and disrespectful and subject honest and law abiding visitors to their country like criminals. Surely there is a lesson to be learnt from a Country like the UK. There we have had to endure terrorism for over 30 years certainly most of my life time. Over in the UK we have not always got it right, but we have never I repeat never subjected any guest to our Country with such verbal bullying and Disrespect as I wittiness during my own personal ordeal ant that of the other law abiding visitors, and even residents returning to this Country. What is so disgraceful and somewhat sad Is that this behaviour has now become comparable to the behaviour one would receive upon visiting a none western Country, somewhere known as unwelcoming. Please change this America, this sort of conduct needs to be addressed and changed right away if America wants the world to see it's indeed the type of place it claims to be to the world, welcoming. Please don't be fooled especially with what has happened to the world in general over the last few years. Sorry to say this America you need the rest of the world, not the rest of the world needing America, everyone needs a strong America, but the world has moved on and America will be left behind if it take the view that everyone else in the world is not welcomed.
