Now that the Inspector General’s investigation has concluded we will proceed expeditiously in determining accountability for those who violated any laws or policies of this Department.  In light of the matters reflected in the report and addendum, and in order to avoid any perception of a conflict of interest, the Director of the Secret Service and I both agree that all decisions concerning accountability for these matters will be made by me.  I plan to make these decisions in the coming weeks.

Over the past year, the year since he returned to public service, Director Clancy has made great strides in bringing about necessary changes to the Secret Service, including bringing on a new leadership team, implementing the recommendations of the independent Protective Mission Panel, and starting to address a number of issues that had not been dealt with in years.  I am confident that Director Clancy will continue that good work and leadership.
