Increasing Cyber-Resilience

Release Date: December 1, 2014

Today, our economic strength and national security depends upon a vast array of interdependent infrastructures and the critical cyber networks and systems that underpin them and keep them functioning. In the absence of a secure cyberspace, the American people cannot be confident that they can safely conduct everyday business transactions. Currently S&T is working to combat cybercrime by collaborating with a broad range of cybersecurity partners across DHS, other federal agencies, state and local governments, the first responder community, critical infrastructure sectors, national laboratories, universities, and international organizations to protect our nation’s cyber backbone.

We continue to strengthen our public and private partnerships by creating opportunities for collaboration in pursuit of innovative solutions to global cybersecurity challenges. On December 16, S&T’s Cyber Security Division (CSD) will host their 2014 Research and Development (R&D) Showcase, featuring cutting-edge technologies, tools, and techniques for addressing these complex challenges. This event will unveil more than 40 cyber projects – developed in response to real-world requirements – to improve cybersecurity by bringing resources to bear in the areas of economic incentives, forensics, cyber competitions, identity management, Internet measurement, software assurance, research data repositories, and experimental research testbeds.

Transition of technology is also a key priority if our nation is to keep up with the rapid pace of technological advances on a global scale. The R&D Showcase will feature 11 transition-ready technologies that will provide solutions for strengthening the security of public and private sector entities, our critical infrastructure sectors, and our nation. Through S&T’s multitude of cybersecurity projects, our team strives to enhance the security and resiliency of our nation’s infrastructure and the Internet. If you are interested in gaining a perspective on cybersecurity R&D of the future, I encourage you to attend.
