Science and Technology Directorate Events

The Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) and the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) participate in events throughout the year to reach out to the public and disseminate knowledge regarding new technologies that help homeland security officials better do their jobs to protect the homeland.
 

October 2012

International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Annual Conf. & EMEX 2012
Dates: October 26 – November 1, 2012
Location: Orlando, FL
Event Overview: The IAEM Annual Conference & EMEX Expo is one of the top emergency management and homeland security shows with the majority of its attendees playing a key role in selecting, purchasing and using emergency equipment, supplies, products and services.  Attendees include disaster planning and preparedness managers, response coordinators, emergency communications managers, private industry contingency planners, and contract services providers. 
 
EMS World EXPO/Firehouse Central/Enforcement Expo
Dates: October 29 – November 2, 2012
Location: New Orleans, LA
Event Overview: EMS World, the largest EMS show in North America, offers educational sessions, an exhibit hall and a cadaver lab.  Each year, thousands of EMS professionals from around the world gather to hear top national speakers, explore the EMS exhibit hall and network with fellow EMS professionals.

SBIR/STTR 2012 National Conference: Crack the Code
Dates: November 13 – November 15, 2012
Location: Portland, OR
Event Overview: The Micro-enterprise Inventors Program of Oregon (MIPO) and the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network (OSBDC) will host the SBIR/STTR 2012 National Conference: Crack the Code an event that welcomes entrepreneurs, businesses, government agencies, innovators, universities, and community partners to Portland, Oregon.
 
IEEE International Conference on Technology for Homeland Security (HST)
Dates: November 13 – November 15, 2012
Location: Waltham, MA
Event Overview: This conference brings together innovators from leading universities, research laboratories, Homeland Security Centers of Excellence, small businesses, system integrators and the end user community and provides a forum to discuss ideas, concepts and experimental results.
 
Successfully Implementing and Using Mobility for Enterprise Asset Management
Dates: November 14 – November 15, 2012
Location: Houston, TX
Event Overview: At the Successfully Implementing and Using Mobility for Enterprise Asset Management Conference, attendees will discover how operational and technical experts from a diverse range of asset intensive organizations are reaping the rewards of a mobile strategy.  At this event, an S&T Cyber Security Division representative will give a presentation titled, "Ensuring Cyber Security in a Mobile Era: How to Protect Your Data."

Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC)
Dates: December 3 – December 6, 2012
Location: Orlando, FL
Event Overview: I/ITSEC promotes cooperation among the armed services, industry, academia and various government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs, identification of common training issues and the development of multiservice programs.  With more than 19,000 attendees, I/ITSEC is the world's largest modeling, simulation and training conference in the world. S&T's Infrastructure Protection and Disaster Management Division's Mike Matthews will present at the conference regarding the DSS-WISE project.
