DHS Significantly Reduces Outstanding Inspector General Recommendations

The Department of Homeland Security depends on its strongest asset – its people – to fulfill its diverse and important missions. Every day, the men and women of this Department work together to ensure that our programs, operations, and other activities are running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. We’ve made great strides to improve what we do, be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and uphold the public trust. One measure of our success in this regard is our significant reduction in the number of open recommendations from the Office of Inspector General (OIG). By implementing better practices and resolving the OIG’s recommendations, DHS has become a more responsive and effective agency.

Secretary Johnson Presents DHS Secretary's Awards To Department Employees

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson, joined by Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas and Department of Homeland Security component leadership, today presented the DHS Secretary’s Award to 329 DHS employees from across the country for their extraordinary service and outstanding contributions to the Department and the Nation. Secretary Johnson resumed these awards last year to appropriately recognize the achievements and selfless service of DHS personnel who preserve our freedoms and protect the homeland with integrity, vigilance, and respect.

Readout Of Secretary Johnson's Trip To Mexico

Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson was in Mexico City today and yesterday, where he met with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, Secretary of Interior Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong, and Foreign Minister Claudia Ruiz Massieu, to discuss our shared security and commercial interests.

DHS has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the General Services Administration (GSA) to use One Acquisition Solution for Integrated Services (OASIS) and OASIS Small Business (OASIS SB) to procure professional services.  OASIS and OASIS SB are multiple-award, indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts that provide mission support across many areas of expertise and multiple professional service disciplines.

Medical Supplies

The DHS-wide Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) for Medical Supplies simplifies purchasing of medical items at prices that leverage the purchase volume of the entire Department.  These medical supplies are used by personnel to train for and perform medical treatments, tests, and operations.  The supplies are those used in a pre-hospital, emergency medical services context, and oftentimes in an austere, remote environment.
