Veteran and Military Spouse Programs

Learn How to Apply. Click here. The Department recognizes the courage and sacrifice of American veterans, particularly those who are injured in the line of duty. To honor their service, the Department participates in programs to help injured soldiers and disabled veterans gain skills and transition to civilian work.

Operation Warfighter helps service members who are recovering from injury to learn valuable skills and build their resumes.

Looking for your next career step after your military service? Are you within 180 days of transition? Discover opportunities to participate in training and development with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

SkillBridge is a Department of Defense program that allows transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian job training from DHS through internships, beginning up to six months before they leave the military - all while keeping their military pay and benefits.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is proud to be a member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership. The Military Spouse Employment Partnership is a targeted recruitment and employment solution for spouses and companies that:

  • Connects corporate and non-profit organizations with military spouses representing ALL Military Services.
  • Provides human resource managers with recruitment solutions – military spouses.
  • Prepares military spouses to become competitive, "job ready" applicants.
  • Connects military spouses with employers seeking the essential 21st century workforce skills and attributes they possess.

The Warriors-to-DHS Pathway (W2DHS) offers veterans transitioning from military service to civilian service the opportunity to gain the education, training, and experience they need to become Contract Specialists in the Acquisition Professional Career Program (APCP).
