The Department of Homeland Security's Performance and Accountability Reports provide information that enables the President, Congress and the public to assess the effectiveness of the Department's mission performance and stewardship of resources.

The reports describe how Homeland Security links Department-wide goals and objectives to mission-oriented programs, their resources, and their associated program performance goals and measures.  Throughout the year, department managers use this information in evaluating and managing their programs, so as to improve program performance and the delivery of results to the American public.

Annual Performance Report (APR) contains detailed performance information as required by the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA). The APR reports fiscal year (FY) 2007 performance results along with performance levels associated with the FY 2009 President's Budget. The APR is posted on this Web site and transmitted with the Congressional Budget Justification on February 4, 2008.

Highlights Report (PDF, 60 pages - 2.3 MB) summarizes key performance and financial information. The Highlights report is to be used to get a sense of the Department’s overall performance and financial status in a concise format. The AFR and APR provide additional detail if desired.

Performance and Accountability Report Pilot

The Department of Homeland Security is participating in an Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Pilot Program for Alternative Approaches to Performance and Accountability Reporting. The Department will produce three separate reports rather than the consolidated Performance and Accountability Report published in previous years. Learn More at OMB.gov (PDF, 2 pages - 36 KB.)
