Economics Group
The Economics Group focuses on the economic impact of Homeland Security policies and regulations. The Economics group covers various topics affecting homeland security including, but not limited to: immigration, terrorism, transportation, and border crossings.
In each of these subjects, the Economics group facilitates the following:
- Policy Analysis - evaluates the economic impacts of Departmental policies on the private sector
- Process Analysis - evaluates Departmental processes that will allow the private sector to operate efficiently while meeting national security needs
- Regulatory Analysis - provides a resource to the Department on regulatory/economic analyses
- Metrics - promotes the use of metrics to identify successes and areas needing improvement
- Benefits Methodology - actively works on the development of methodologies to quantify the benefits of homeland security investments
Economic Roundtables
The Private Sector Office sponsors monthly economic roundtables. The speakers include government officials, academics, consultants and members of the private sector. The economic roundtables are a way to foster and open dialogue among economist and analysts on issues related to homeland security, such as trade and commerce.
