About the Infrastructure Information Collection Division
The Office of Infrastructure Protection's Infrastructure Information Collection Division (IICD) leads the Department’s efforts to gather and manage vital information regarding the nation’s critical infrastructure and key resources (CIKR). Accurate CIKR data is essential to developing and executing infrastructure protection programs at all levels of government. IICD helps ensure needed infrastructure data is available to homeland security partners by identifying information sources and developing applications to use and analyze CIKR data.
IICD equips federal, state, and local governments with tools for the collection, management, and visualization of infrastructure data to support national preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.

Resources and Tools to Support Infrastructure Protection Efforts
Collection
To help homeland security personnel and emergency responders collect and manage information about the critical infrastructure in their communities, IICD provides the Automated Critical Asset Management System (ACAMS) at no cost to local jurisdictions. The comprehensive set of tools and resources in ACAMS support infrastructure protection programs by helping streamline collection efforts.
IICD, in collaboration with HITRAC, manages the National Critical Infrastructure Prioritization Program's (NCIPP) Data Call process, which is the primary method for the Department to collect, identify, and prioritize CIKR from states, CIKR sectors, and other homeland security partners across the nation. The NCIIP Data Call process uses an enhanced Infrastructure Data Collection Application which provides the ability to input data throughout the year.
At the federal level, IICD's Methodology Technical Implementation (MTI) team works with the 18 CIKR Sectors to develop automated risk analysis and vulnerability assessment tools. Sector-specific automated tools enable enable the Office of Infrastructure Protection, government security analysts, and private sector partners to identify, analyze, and manage risk across all sectors.
Management
IICD establishes standards, requirements, and procedures to help ensure the consistency and relevance of data collected. As part of this effort, IICD developed and maintains the Infrastructure Data Taxonomy, a common terminology for communicating about critical infrastructure.
To enhance information-sharing efforts between the public and private sectors, IICD's Protected Critical Infrastructure Information (PCII) program provides congressionally mandated protections from public disclosure to qualifying critical infrastructure information. A collaborative infrastructure protection program is dependent on participation from owners and operators of the nation’s CIKR.
Visualization
Understanding the infrastructure landscape and how CIKR are interlinked is essential to establishing a comprehensive situational awareness during regular operations and times of crisis.
A suite of Web-based visualization tools available through IICD's Integrated Common Analytical Viewer (iCAV) provide this comprehensive perspective by enabling users to selectively view and analyze infrastructure data from multiple sources in a dynamic map.
