President Bush has announced his intention to nominate Robert D. Jamison as Under Secretary for National Protection and Programs Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security. Robert has been a key member of my senior management team as Deputy Under Secretary and acting Under Secretary for the National Protection and Programs Directorate. He previously provided critical leadership at the Transportation Security Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary.

Prior to his service at the department, Robert held several senior leadership positions at the Department of Transportation, including Deputy Administrator and later acting Administrator of the Federal Railroad Administration. He brings more than 13 years of private sector experience from the United Parcel Service, as well as unique knowledge and perspective from his time as Senior Operations Officer at the American Red Cross. Robert graduated magna cum laude from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science degree.

I am grateful for Robert’s contributions to the safety and security of the homeland. He is a strong and effective manager with unique expertise that will further the resiliency of the nation’s cyber and critical infrastructure networks, as well as the continued integration of the department.  I look forward to his quick confirmation.
