Secretary Ridge Meets with German Minister of Interior

U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge met with the German Federal Minister of the Interior Otto Schily on Tuesday, February 4, for a productive discussion of homeland security efforts in America and Germany.

Secretary Ridge updated Minister Schily on the Department of Homeland Security's effort to begin operations and organize a new department whose primary mission is protecting America.

The dialogue focused on initiatives to continue strengthening port and container security for commerce between the United States and Germany as well as the future development of international standards for biometrics and identification technologies.
