Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge has announced his designation of Michael Byrne of New York to serve as the Director of National Capital Region Coordination for Emergency Response at the Department of Homeland Security.  Mr. Byrne currently serves in the Office of Homeland Security at the White House as the Senior Director for Response and Recovery.  Prior to serving at the White House, Michael Byrne served as the Deputy Federal Coordination Officer for Operations responsible for all federal response assets and recovery program administration in New York City after the attack on the World Trade Center.
