Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge today announced he is appointing longtime aide Duncan Campbell as the new Chief of Staff for the Department of Homeland Security. "I have worked with Duncan for over ten years and I look forward to working with him in this new capacity", said Secretary Ridge. "He will bring both institutional knowledge and a solid understanding of the policy to the job." Mr. Campbell has been serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations at the Department since the transition in December of 2002.
Before working at DHS, Mr. Campbell was the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs for the White House Office of Homeland Security. Prior to serving at the White House, Mr. Campbell served as Executive Director of the Republican Governors Association and as Pennsylvania's State Director for the Bush-Cheney 2000 Campaign. Mr. Campbell also worked directly for Secretary Ridge in a variety of capacities during Secretary Ridge's tenure as Governor of Pennsylvania, including Deputy Chief of Staff, Deputy Director of the Ridge Leadership Fund, and Director of the Governor's Office of Labor-Management Cooperation. Mr. Campbell is a graduate of Cornell University where he received degrees in government and history.
