U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary for Border and Transportation Security Policy and Planning C. Stewart Verdery, Jr. today announced his resignation effective March 4, 2005.

 “Stewart Verdery has served this department with great honor, integrity and distinction.  Assistant Secretary Verdery championed policy development in substantive areas under border and transportation security. He served as a familiar DHS representative before Congress, private sector bodies, as well as on official government policy review boards and working groups. I thank Stewart for the service he rendered for his country and wish him and his family all the best for the future,” said Acting Homeland Security Secretary James Loy.
