Federal support to state and local officials and volunteer organizations continues around the clock in an effort to save lives, sustain life, and assist with law enforcement operations in areas affected by Hurricane Katrina. The following facts highlight some of the important activities and approximate numbers as of 2 p.m. EDT today:
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will deliver more than 100,000 pieces of seized clothes for Hurricane Katrina evacuees in Jackson, Mississippi on Monday, September 12, 2005 at 1pm (CDT). The clothes were seized by CBP and ICE for violations of U.S. trademark laws. Monday’s delivery follows similar donations by CBP and ICE to Houston and San Antonio. After tomorrow’s delivery, in total over $4 million worth of clothes will have been donated by CBP and ICE.
