Critical Research/Innovation Focus Area Documents describe a general area in which technology development efforts could provide significant advances to the long-term technology needs of the Department. These focus area documents present general information on Department stakeholders, their long-term capability needs, and the operational environment in which the capability advances are needed. This information can be used as the basis for understanding the future research and innovation needs of the Department, and as a starting point to address those needs. Private sector organizations that possess or could develop solutions to meet the needs articulated in the Critical Research/Innovation Focus Area documents are eligible to apply for a partnership with the Department through the FutureTECH Program.
