Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano delivered remarks today at the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) Conference in San Francisco, Calif.
In her remarks, Secretary Napolitano emphasized the Department’s commitment to strong partnerships with state and local law enforcement—including the nation’s police officers.
She discussed fusion centers and the critical role they play in connecting intelligence and law enforcement communities across all levels of government and strengthening the country’s homeland security capabilities.
Secretary Napolitano also thanked NAPO for its strong support of PASS ID secure identification legislation, and stressed the importance of acting on PASS ID—a bipartisan, cost-effective, commonsense solution that balances critical security requirements with the practical needs of state governments—as quickly as possible.
