WASHINGTON - Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano and several DHS senior officials today held a roundtable discussion with leaders from the nation’s largest law enforcement associations to discuss a wide range of issues including preparation for the H1N1 flu virus, immigration reform, and border security enforcement.
Secretary Napolitano underscored the importance of close coordination between DHS and its state and local law enforcement partners and emphasized information sharing through fusion centers across the country.
Secretary Napolitano meets with state and local law enforcement on a regular basis. She recently delivered keynote remarks to the National Association of Police Organizations, addressed the National Sheriffs’ Association and created the DHS Federal Law Enforcement Advisory Board to strengthen homeland security partnerships between all levels of government.
