Secretary Napolitano delivered remarks yesterday at the U.S. Secret Service Global Cyber Security Conference here in Washington, D.C. Cybersecurity and countering cyber crimes are central issues in securing this country against terrorism, both from the homeland and abroad.
Computer hacking, fraud, financial violations, online predatory behavior, identity theft - these define the scope of our challenge in securing our nation's cyber infrastructure. And remember, these are global threats. The department works every day to assess and disrupt these threats both at home and from sources outside the United States.
The U.S. Secret Service and the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications, housed in our National Protection and Programs Directorate, stand on the front lines for the department on the issue of cybersecurity.
We'll bring you more on this issue, and about the specific threats individuals and families face, and how you can take easy steps to make sure your home computer, your children, your finances, and your personal information, remain safe.
