“Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will join President Obama, Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan, Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan and White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley in New Orleans on Thursday, Oct. 15., to see recovery efforts firsthand following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and hear directly from the people of Louisiana at a town hall meeting.
This week’s trip marks Secretary Napolitano’s third visit to the Gulf Coast since January and reflects her commitment to ensuring that rebuilding efforts along the Gulf Coast continue to move forward efficiently and effectively.
Secretary Napolitano will then visit Santa Clara, Calif., on Thursday and Friday to meet with industry leaders on cybersecurity and discuss the shared responsibility of protecting the nation’s critical cyber infrastructure and networks.
Secretary Napolitano will also deliver remarks to Santa Clara University students and faculty about the importance of building a national culture of readiness and resilience and participate in the University’s President’s Speaker Series, where she will discuss ‘Homeland Security in a Networked Age.’
