KRAKOW, Poland—Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today completed a two-day trip to Krakow, Poland where he met with international counterparts and attended the European Union G6 Interior Ministers Meeting to discuss collective concern regarding foreign fighter travel to and from Syria, homeland security-related priorities, and efforts to ensure our common security interests.
Yesterday, Secretary Johnson met with international counterparts from France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom, and participated in a bilateral meeting with German Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière. Today, Secretary Johnson participated in G6 plenary sessions and bilateral meetings with Spanish Interior Minister Jorge Fernández Diaz, U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May, Italian Interior Minister Angelino Alfano and Polish Interior Minister Bartłomiej Sienkiewicz.
During the meetings, Secretary Johnson discussed the inextricable link between the United States’ security and that of our international partners, underscoring the need to continue to work closely together to strengthen the security of the global trade and travel networks upon which all our nations’ economies and citizens rely.
