BERLIN — Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas today concluded a two-day trip to Germany where he met with German counterparts to discuss homeland security-related priorities and ensure our common security interests.
While in Berlin, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas participated in a Security Cooperation Group Plenary, where he reiterated the strong partnership with German counterparts and underscored our common interest in counterterrorism, law enforcement, and homeland security matters. Through the Security Cooperation Group, the Department of Homeland Security and the German Federal Interior Ministry continue to enhance bilateral cooperation on issues including aviation security, cybersecurity, countering violent extremism and transnational crime.
Yesterday, Deputy Secretary Mayorkas also met with Ministry of Justice State Secretary Dr. Stefanie Hubig and Chancellery Intelligence State Secretary Klaus Dieter Fritsche.
