HOUSTON — Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today traveled to Houston where he, along with Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, met with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) employees. Secretary Johnson reiterated his confidence in the TSA workforce and thanked them for the work they do every day to screen a record number of passengers at airports across the United States and keep the traveling public safe. Secretary Johnson also thanked TSA and CBP personnel for their efforts to maintain operations through the region’s recent severe weather.
While in Houston, Secretary Johnson and Congresswoman Jackson Lee visited the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Mobile Registration Intake Center located at Spring Woods Middle School. There, FEMA personnel briefed them on the ongoing recovery efforts for the severe weather that impacted the area in the last few weeks. Secretary Johnson reiterated the Department’s support as the recovery efforts continue in the region.
Individuals and business owners who sustained losses in the affected region can begin the disaster application process by visiting www.DisasterAssistance.gov, by registering via a web enabled mobile device at m.fema.gov or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Online registration is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Disaster assistance applicants, who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY, should call 1-800-462-7585 directly; for those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), should call 1-800-621-3362.\
