Teacher, Cashier, Football Player among 45 Candidates Set to Become Citizens
WASHINGTON –Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas will administer the Oath of Allegiance during a naturalization ceremony hosted by the Department of Labor for 45 citizenship candidates on Tuesday, September 13.
Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez will deliver keynote remarks and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director León Rodríguez will present the candidates to Deputy Secretary Mayorkas for naturalization and congratulatory remarks. Deputy Secretary of Labor Christopher Lu will provide welcoming remarks.
The 45 naturalization candidates originate from the following 38 countries: Argentina, Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Germany, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Hungary, India, Iran, Kenya, Morocco, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, Sierra Leone, South Korea, Sudan, Thailand, and Uruguay. Included in the 45 candidates is Arie Kouandjio, offensive lineman for the Washington Redskins, hailing from Cameroon.
