DHS Honors Fallen Law Enforcement During National Police Week 2022
Release Date: May 18, 2022
During National Police Week, DHS honored law enforcement officers who served our communities and country.
Our Department gathered for commemorative events, including the DHS Memorial Ceremony, CBP’s Valor Memorial and Wreath Laying, the FPS’s Valor Memorial and Wreath Laying Ceremony, the ICE Valor Memorial, the USSS Wall of Honor Ceremony, the FLETC’s Memorial Service, the Annual Blue Mass, the 34th Annual Candlelight Vigil, and the 41st Annual Peace Officer Memorial Service. Each year during Police Week, we come together to grieve our fallen colleagues, and rededicate ourselves to the noble mission of law enforcement.
Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro N. Mayorkas believes that, “It is our commitment and our obligation to not forget those who lost their lives in the line of duty. Their ultimate sacrifice has made it possible for us to enjoy the freedoms and the life that define this greatest country of ours. We recognize their families as well. The risks the fallen undertook, and the sacrifices they made, were undertaken and made by their loved ones too.”
Every single day, we remember those DHS law enforcement officials who died in the line of duty. Their names are etched on the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. – and now live forever in a virtual place of honor, too. DHS In Memoriam remembers our dedicated colleagues, as well as our canine and equine partners, whom we have lost. Visit the new In Memoriam page here. Read below for moments from this week’s commemorative events.
