Advanced Trace Detection Industry Day

The DHS Science and Technology Directorate's Explosives Division (EXD), part of the Homeland Security Advanced Research Projects Agency, will host an Advanced Trace Detection Industry Day on Tuesday October 24 and Wednesday, October 25 for interested parties.

Explosives trace detection is frequently used as a screening method for the detection of explosives on people, baggage, and cargo. EXD released a Broad Agency Announcement (BAA 13-03 -- Closed) titled "Advanced Trace Detection Instrumentation and Methodologies," supporting projects that will deliver functional advanced desktop ETDs, improved ionization techniques for detection, and novel sampling and testing methods including both contact and non-contact sampling methods. Outcomes of this BAA will be presented at this upcoming Advanced Trace Detection Industry Day.

The intention of the Industry Day is to help define the current state of the art for ETDs, share current research results of sponsored research and development, and encourage discussion in the trace community for future technology areas to explore and improve the detection of trace explosives. Technical areas of discussion will include research and development of a retrofit of ETDs, advanced next generation benchtop ETDs with mass spectrometry, handheld ETDs, and new tools and methodologies for enhancing ETDs.

Date: October 24 and 25, 2017

Time: 8:00 AM -- 4:00 PM

Location: Homeland Security Acquisition Institute, 90 K St NE, Washington DC
