CSD’s mission is to contribute to enhancing the security and resilience of the nation’s critical information infrastructure and the internet. CSD accomplishes its mission by developing and delivering new technologies, tools and techniques that enable DHS and the nation to defend, mitigate and secure current and future systems, networks and infrastructure against cyberattacks. CSD leads and coordinates research and development (R&D) among the cybersecurity community, which includes department customers, other government agencies, the private sector and international partners. Once these R&D products are matured, CSD supports marketplace transition through commercialization and open-source access.
SVIP is keeping pace with the innovation community to tackle the hardest problems challenging DHS’s operational missions and the Homeland Security Enterprise. The program expands DHS’s reach to find new technologies that strengthen national security. SVIP, based in California’s Silicon Valley, reaches out to innovation communities across the nation and around the world to harness the commercial R&D ecosystem for government applications, co-invest in ideas and accelerate transition-to-market.
During this session, researchers from academia, labs and industry, including startups and market accelerators, will learn more about CSD’s cybersecurity-focused mission, its broad research scope, its ongoing search for emerging research areas, how they can apply for the $80 million of contracts that CSD awards annually on average and how they can partner with CSD to transition technologies to the market. They’ll also get more insight on SVIP and how they can apply for funding to adapt their existing research to DHS and Homeland Security Enterprise needs.
