My Family and I

Employee and Family Readiness is a unified approach to employee wellness and readiness that includes support for the families of DHS employees. Providing resources for DHS employees--the frontline of our country's security--and their families is essential to ensuring the mission readiness and resilience of the DHS workforce.

Financial Consultation

DHS components provide DHS employees and their eligible family members private consultation with financial advisors and referral services to help them reach their financial goals. Examples include, but are not limited to, the list below:

  • Finding a financial planner
  • Savings and investment strategies
  • Buying a home
  • College budgeting
  • Debt consolidation
  • Family budgeting
  • Deciding whether to buy or lease a car

Legal Aid

DHS components provide employees and their eligible family members private consultation with legal advisors and referral services to assist with a wide range of legal issues, including, but not limited to the issues below:

  • Housing and real estate matters
  • Estate planning
  • Family law (divorce, custody, etc.)
  • Car accidents
  • Traffic violations
  • Criminal matters
  • Civil and criminal law
  • Consumer/contract law
  • Personal injury

Dependent Care Referrals

Whether you're caring for a child or an elderly family member, component-provided dependent care specialists can help you efficiently assess your caregiving situation and arrange the appropriate referrals to available support services in your area.

  • Caregiver Issues and Concerns
  • Professional Geriatric Care Management

Counseling Services

DHS components offer offer pre-paid, confidential counseling sessions with licensed counselors and referral services to help DHS employees and their immediate family members cope with a variety of life events and challenges, including, but not limited to the issues below:

  • PTSD

  • Grief or loss
  • Alcoholism
  • Drug addiction
  • Eating disorders
  • Workplace conflict
  • Family conflict
