On November 18, 2022, Secretary Mayorkas congratulated the 29 members of the DHS workforce who were recognized for their exceptional performance and awarded the 2022 Presidential Rank Award (PRA).
Each year, the President recognizes a select group of employees for exceptional performance over an extended period of time with the Presidential Rank Awards.
Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas today announced the winners of the 2022 DHS Secretary’s Awards, which will honor 876 employees from all 9 DHS component agencies and headquarters across 26 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Vietnam. These individuals have demonstrated a commitment to the DHS mission and exemplify the values of duty, honor, and excellence.
On Friday, June 4, at 8:45am, Secretary Alejandro N. Mayorkas raised the LGBTQ+ Pride flag for the first time in DHS history. On the St. Elizabeths campus in the District of Columbia, the Secretary and DHS staff proudly gathered in front of the ceremonial entrance for this momentous occasion.
These first seven days of May mark Public Service Recognition Week. During this week, we take a moment to recognize and express the Nation’s appreciation for what you and others in public service do for the American people.
In honor of International Women’s Day on March 8, 2021, we wanted to highlight the women inventors working for DHS, both federal employees and contractors. To date, DHS has a total of eight women inventors who hold six patents. In addition, more than 20 inventions by DHS women are currently awaiting approval by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO).
