Privacy Incident Handling Guidance

The "PIHG" establishes DHS policy for responding to privacy incidents by providing procedures to follow upon the detection or discovery of a suspected or confirmed incident involving PII. 

This is DHS's breach response plan.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has recently learned of a vulnerability that existed in the software used by a DHS vendor to process personnel security investigations. The software gathers and stores sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) for background investigations
