The 2018 Secretary’s Award for Excellence recognizes outstanding individual achievement or innovation by an employee engaged in work to advance the mission of the Department of Homeland Security. This work may have resulted in superior performance, significant operational improvements or notable innovation in support of Department of Homeland Security missions for development and fabrication of a more efficient and cost-effective method for extraction and removal of the frangible dust and lead particulates from the ranges’ bullet trap system, at an extraordinary reduced cost of $300,000, saving the Government an estimated $2.4M.
