WASHINGTON— Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson today met with Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh to underscore the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) important partnerships with cities and communities across the nation— including Boston —and discuss the continuing collaboration between DHS with local first responders and law enforcement partners.

During the meeting, Secretary Johnson highlighted the critical partnership of local officials, including the Boston Police Department, and discussed with the Mayor the state and local led security-related planning efforts for the upcoming Boston Marathon on April 21, 2014, which DHS is supporting. Secretary Johnson also underscored the Department’s continued support and collaboration on issues including training and preparedness, as well as the need for continued information sharing at all levels of government to enhance public safety.
