Under President Trump and Secretary Noem, Border Patrol has delivered the most secure border in American history

WASHINGTON – As the United States Border Patrol celebrates its 101st Anniversary under President Donald J. Trump and Secretary Kristi Noem’s leadership, the Border Patrol has achieved unprecedented success and delivered the most secure border in American history. Since President Trump took office, daily encounters at the border are down by 93% while known got-a-ways are down 95%.

“For more than a century, the men and women of the Border Patrol have stood on the front lines of national security as America’s original watchmen. The threats may change, but the mission remains: protect the homeland,” said Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. “On Border Patrol’s 101st anniversary, we honor and thank all who’ve worn the uniform. A nation without borders is no nation at all.”

In 1924, the first 450 agents began patrolling the southern border in 1924. Today, nearly 20,000 individuals help keep our border safe.

Secretary Noem and DHS highlighted the service of four border patrol agents yesterday.

Dan Bergum, a native of Buffalo, who serves in Buffalo Sector on our northern border. He has been part of the Border Patrol for 14 years and was previously deployed to Iraq.
