Policy Advisor, TSA
As the Disability and Multicultural Division Policy Advisor, Harleen Singh coordinates the Language Access Working Group through training and outreach in the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Office of Civil Rights.
Through her work on the Language Access Plan, which improves access to TSA services for travelers with limited English proficiency, Singh works around DHS and across the federal government to coordinate and share best practices in this area. The Language Access Plan is vital to properly allocating TSA resources and providing the traveling public with a hassle-free screening process, while ensuring the highest security standards.
Singh frequently demonstrates the depth and breadth of her knowledge of TSA, DHS and the entire federal government. Her dedication is supplemented by a diverse and devoted team who work to further the Department’s critical missions every day.
Following September 11, 2001, the TSA was created to strengthen the security of the nation’s transportation systems and ensure the freedom of movement for people and commerce. Today, TSA secures the nation’s airports and screens all commercial airline passengers and baggage. TSA uses a risk-based strategy and works closely with transportation, law enforcement and intelligence communities to set the standard for excellence in transportation security.
