Actions to Improve Chemical Facility Safety and Security – A Shared Commitment

Executive Order (EO) 13650, Improving Chemical Facility Safety and Security, directs the Federal Government to:

  • Improve operational coordination with State, local, and tribal partners;
  • Enhance Federal agency coordination and information sharing;
  • Modernize policies, regulations, and standards; and
  • Work with stakeholders to identify best practices.

To accomplish these goals, the EO established a federal interagency working group, lead by the Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Labor, and Department of Homeland Security, to oversee chemical facility safety and security. This report highlights the efforts of this working group to improve chemical facility safety and security and provides a plan for moving forward.
