The Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman issued an assessment of and recommendations to USCIS regarding the Central American Minors (CAM) Refugee/Parole Program. Established two years ago, CAM aims to provide a safe, legal, and orderly alternative to the dangerous journey some children undertake to the United States. The Ombudsman’s recommendation provides an overview of the program, outlines key issues of concern, and proposes measures to address those concerns. It also highlights areas where further interagency action is needed.
