Advanced Decision Support for Public Safety Fact Sheet

Body

Today’s patrol vehicles have essentially been transformed into mobile offices. For all of their benefits and conveniences, modern communications and information-sharing systems often lead to cognitive, visual and manual distractions—just a few seconds can mean the difference between a routine shift and a serious or fatal collision. Over the next two years, DHS S&T will partner with a variety of stakeholders including law enforcement officers, academia, local, state and federal partners, and the private sector, to apply a systems-engineering approach to help reduce law enforcement distracted driving incidents.
