Fact Sheet: Better screening performance through technology: verifying and validating a task process factor tool

Body

To help assess Transportation Security Officer (TSO) screening performance at checkpoints, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) sponsored the development of the Task Process Factor (TPF) Tool and an associated guidebook. The DHS Science and Technology Directorate (S&T)  independently verified and validated that tool.

Human performance is fundamental to the TSA's mission to protect the nation's transportation systems while ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce. The TSA Security Operations, Standards and Effectiveness Branch works to improve Transportation Security Officer (TSO) performance in screening passengers and their carry-on bags and checked baggage.
