Stakeholder Feedback: Low-Cost Internet of Things (IOT) Flood Inundation Sensors Report

Body

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) partnered with five stakeholders from state and local governments to test and evaluate the low-cost IoT flood inundation sensors in their communities.  Each community’s use case for flooding (i.e., riverine flooding, flash flooding, coastal flooding and dam safety) across varying geographies helped DHS S&T assess the functionality and durability of these low-cost sensors.  While individual coordination occurred between DHS S&T and each of the five stakeholders, this teleconference encouraged open dialogue across all parties. Further discussions also included their paths forward for using the data for alerts, warnings and notifications for their respective emergency management communities and the general public.
