  • CSAC FY2022 Annual Report

    As part of the DHS S&T, CSAC is the nation’s only federal study, analysis and knowledge management center for assessing the threat and hazard(s) associated with an accidental or intentional large-scale chemical event or chemical terrorism event in the United States.

  • Response: A Building Floor Plan Digital Mapping Tool Virtual Assessment Report

    Response (formerly the “Data Upload Mechanism for Sharing Floor Plans and Site Safety Data”) is a software tool that converts building floor plans into simplified digital plans that highlight safety features relevant to emergency response.

  • Project Responder 6: The Evolving Response Environment (Report)

    Project Responder is designed to document emergency response capability needs across significant changes in the operating environment. The innovative approach this data collection effort—now in its sixth generation—takes is to bring together responders from traditional (fire service, law enforcement, emergency medical services, emergency management) and non-traditional (public health, public works, medical examiner/coroner, search and rescue) response agencies to focus on identifying and prioritizing needs across disciplines. The Science and Technology Directorate funds Project Responder and uses the outcomes to guide research, development, and acquisition decisions for the response community.

  • Border Security Metrics Report

    The Fiscal Year 2017 National Defense Authorization Act directs the Department of Homeland Security “to develop metrics … to measure the effectiveness of security between ports of entry, at ports of entry, in the maritime environment and to measure the effectiveness of the aviation assets and operations of Air and Marine Operations of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.” This report meets this direction by providing the most comprehensive, rigorous set of border security metrics ever produced by the Department, along with a thorough discussion of the strengths and limitations of the Department’s available methodological approaches.

  • Environmental Justice Annual Implementation Report for Fiscal Year 2021

    Executive Order (EO) 12898, Federal Actions to Address Environmental Justice in Minority Populations and Low-Income Populations, requires federal agencies to identify and address, as appropriate, “disproportionately high and adverse human health or environmental effects of its programs, policies, and activities on minority populations and low-income populations.” The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) currently defines environmental justice as “the fair treatment and meaningful involvement of all people regardless of race, color, national origin, or income with respect to the development, implementation, and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, and policies. These goals will be achieved when everyone enjoys the same degree of protection from environmental and health hazards and equal access to the decision-making process in order to have a healthy environment in which to live, learn, and work.”

  • Department of Homeland Security Annual Employee Survey

    The Department of Homeland Security Annual Employee Surveys (AES) are conducted to collect data on Department employees' perceptions of the DHS workforce.

  • Robotic Modular Stereoscopic Retrofit System Operational Field Assessment Report

    Bomb robots are used to inspect and manipulate suspect packages or explosives and are controlled by operators from a safe standoff distance. DHS S&T is working with Honeybee Robotics to develop the Robotic Modular Stereoscopic Retrofit (MSR) System.
