  • DHS Space Policy

    Within the homeland security enterprise, space-based systems play a critical role in securing the homeland as DHS components and partners rely heavily on space systems to provide information and communications necessary for mission success. The DHS Space Policy guides component efforts internally and across the homeland security enterprise.

  • DHS Report on Domestic Violent Extremism Internal Review

    At Secretary Mayorkas’ direction, a cross-Departmental working group of senior officials conducted a comprehensive review of how to best prevent, detect, and respond to potential threats related to domestic violent extremism within DHS.

  • Assessment of the Critical Supply Chains Supporting the U.S. ICT Industry

    Directed by President Biden as part of the Executive Order on America’s Supply Chains (E.O. 14017), the Departments of Commerce and Homeland Security evaluated the current supply chain conditions for select hardware and software products, identified key risks that threaten to disrupt those supply chains, and proposed a strategy to mitigate risk and strengthen supply chain resiliency. 

  • National Interest Exception from Presidential Proclamation 10294

    On October 25, 2021, President Biden issued Presidential Proclamation 10294, entitled "Advancing the Safe Resumption of Global Travel During the COVID-19 Pandemic," which suspends and limits the entry into the United States of non-citizens by air travel who are nonimmigrants ("noncitizen nonimmigrants") and who are not fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Presidential Proclamation 10294 contains specified exceptions, including a specific exception for noncitizen nonimmigrants "whose entry would be in the national interest," and entrusts the Secretary of Homeland Security (along with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Transportation) to make this determination.

  • Cooperation with the Office of Inspector General

    The Office of Inspector General (OIG) plays a critical role in helping the Department prevent and detect fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement. By doing so, the OIG helps improve the economy, effectiveness, and efficiency of DHS programs and activities. The OIG does this through independent and objective audits, investigations, evaluations, and inspections. It cannot do so alone. To carry out this important mission, the OIG needs certain information (for example, facts, reports, statistics, and data) from the Department and our Components.

    As reflected in numerous determinations by the Executive Branch, including the President’s March 13, 2020 determination that the outbreak of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) constitutes a “national emergency” under the National Emergencies Act and the nationwide public health emergency declared by the Secretary of Health and Human Services on January 31, 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to pose a threat to our health and security.
